Hey Anyone? Mar. 11th, 2010 @ 02:42 pm
Hello, I don't know if anyone uses Livejournal anymore in this community. I know I've asked this question before but I am asking again.

Anyone know of any good barns where i can take riding lessons that is in the Metro-Detroit Area & the staff is nice? I rode at this one barn & the trainer treated me like dirt & really didn't care.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. also if you could include tuition pricing that would rock or a link to their website

My name is Amber and I am new. I live in South Eastern Michigan. I own a Quarter Horse mare but due to financial situations, she is out for lease.

I lost my passion for horses for a little while. That passion is now back full force :)

I am looking for a position at a horse farm. I don't want to travel very far, but will for the right opportunity. I have previous experience as a stable hand. I have been riding for 9 years but the highest level of showing I have done is the local open circuit.  I am available all evenings Monday through Thursday and all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am looking for a paying position but will consider work in exhange for lessons.

Thank you!

This is a really nice place. It's in Highland Township which has equestrian township designation, located near Milford and about 10 miles from US-23 and M-59

» Tack 'Em Up in Fenton
I just wanted to let people know that there is a great horse consignment shop in Fenton, called "Tack 'Em Up." It's off Leroy in a plaza. It is 90% consignment items.

The lady who owns it started it b/c she was so frustrated with the cost of switching disciplines.

They carry any and everything, and for the most part people who put their items there don't have "eBay syndrome." The prices are really reasonable. Saddle pads are about 10-15$, Breeches, 10-30$, bits 10-20$.

I ride English and was able to find a great show outfit (minus boots) for less than $60.00. They also carry western tack and items. You name it, it's there, saddle pads, show jackets, shirts, saddles, bridles, a rack of bits.

She also wants to do a housewares section, toy section and book section if business does well.

This place is a wonderful gem for horse supplies, just thought I'd share. Support a local business! Especially consignment! EBay sux!

Hey, I am new here, and thought it might be worth a try to see if anyone has heard of any barns in west michigan looking for help?  I have experience in hunters, jumpers, dressage and western from back in the day.  I have also worked with racehorses before, and found it quite fun actually.  I am willing to do pretty much anything, but would love to be able to ride or teach.  I am looking for winter work with the possibility of continuing through the summer.  So if anyone knows anything, I'd really appreciate it if you'd send it my way.. Thank you!

» Detroit Area Trainer
Hi all, I had an inquiry from Barbra Reis about my mare.  Now, I'm having second thoughts about selling her now that I'm finally able to sit on her again.  Anyway, my question to any of you is do you know of her and if so what can you tell me?  I have seen her website and have some thoughts of my own but she seems very pleasant and it looks like all of her horses are well cared for which are two of my main concerns.  Now I know it's probably not entirely fair for me to ask this question as I can't web search most individual riders but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask the question when the person interested is a trainer.

Thank you!!
» Grand Rapids Area?
I'm a college student in Grand Rapids and I just got my car up here. This means I'm dying to find a stable near here!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a (classical) Dressage stable in the Grand Rapids/Alpine/Grandville/Wyoming, MI area that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm right in downtown and I'm looking to drive 20 minutes or less to get there.

Any help is much appreciated!
